On a partial scholarship, Steven earned degrees in psychology and philosophy from California State University, Los Angeles. He is a member of three national honor societies.

Some Background
Once the youngest sales executive in the history of a top-ranked US jobbership, Steven Robert Young, creator of IDEAL and author of two books, seemed destined to be an advocate of pursuing goals.
In 2001, Steven relocated from Los Angeles to New York City, where he achieved his greatest sales successes, which inspired the launch of his own business, in 2008.
In 2020, the impact of the pandemic led to a new direction for his consultancy. The change brought IDEAL, his proprietary process, to the forefront, and to anyone (not just businesses) with a goal to improve, achieve, or become something important to them.
